Sorry! "I threw away the rose" was not a single (or at least didn't chart) for Hank or Jones. "I wonder.." went to #4 for Conway (good guess!). Try again. / p.s., do you ever play Hank on TCB radio? He's one of my favorites (and one of the most talented artists in country music history), and the greatest musical artist in Canadian history (right?).

I know it's not the ovious choices of I Always get Lucky With You or Thats the Way Love Goes since they were not written by Merle.

You got one of them. "I always get lucky with you" was written by Merle and Freddy Powers, and went #1 for George Jones. The other answer was "A shoulder to cry on", #1 for Charley Pride. Good job, even though you didn't think you had it!

Cool -- here's a "Who Am I" question...
"I began my career with a different name than I use now. My first record had a US president in it's title. Elvis was my opening act before he hit the big time. We enjoyed a friendship and maintained correspondance while Elvis was stationed overseas in the Army. Who am I?"

Is this a country singer? If so, is he/she still alive? Tough one, TCB!

Okay folks -- in addition to:
"I began my career with a different name than I use now. My first record had a US president in it's title. Elvis was my opening act before he hit the big time. We enjoyed a friendship and maintained correspondance while Elvis was stationed overseas in the Army. Who am I?"
"My signature hit is a gospel song that stayed on the charts for 15 weeks at #1 and in the top 10 for 50 weeks. Despite that some consider my best recording to have been a duet with Jean Shepard. But it was a later song that hit Billboard's top spot in 1957 for ten straight weeks that ended up with me being the first country music artist to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame"
