Alrighty -- lets try and get something going here --- I'll post a picture for you to guess who it is -- the person who gets the right answer is responsible for the next trivia question --- it can be a photo, question, song lyric - what have you... Here's mine: What 2 country legends are in this photo:

Johnny Horton's last performence was at the Skyline Club on the northside of Austin. Head north on Lamar beyond the original Threadgills.
Jim Reeves and Patsi Cline died in plane crashes. What other HOF member had a close call. (Spouse was the pilot)

I found this in one of Ralph Emerys books. Not exacly a singer. Aha! Minnie Pearl (husband Henry Cannon) Henry Cannon (b. Franklin, Tennessee, August 11, 1917; d. November 7, 1997), a former Army Air Corps pilot and a partner in the charter airplane service Capitol Airways. Before long, he left Capitol Airways and set up his own charter service specializing in the country music business, flying a Beechcraft single-engine plane. Clients included Eddy Arnold and his then manager Tom Parker, Hank Williams, Carl Smith, Webb Pierce, and eventually Elvis Presley. Client number one was his wife, who soon became known in Nashville society circles as Sarah Cannon. In addition to transporting his wife, Henry Cannon became her manager as well. Next questionA country music legend and an Opry regular co-penned a song that ended up as a duet for Randy Travis and Loretta Lynn. What was the song and who were the writers...

"Shopping for Dresses", written by Little Jimmy Dickens and Merle Haggard. Next question, name one song that went to #1 on the billboard charts that was written by Merle, but was #1 for someone else.

I realized tonight, while listening to a CD I made of Hag covers, that there are two possible answers to this one. If no one guesses by tomorrow night, I'll give a hint.

O.K. two hints. Both artists who's Haggard cover reached #1 are hall of famers, and Merle recorded both songs himself (around the same time as the cover versions).

I'm still fretting over this one --- everytime I try and run songs through my head I can only hear Merle singing them --- with the new hint in hand, I'll go back searching again

Alrighty -- I'm going to go out on a limb and take a stab: I Threw Away The Rose? Can't decide to guess Hank Snow or George Jones....but I'll go with George..... and I don't think this made it to the top spot but -- I Wonder If She'll Think I'm Leaving - Conway Twitty crossing my fingers
