Hello TCB. My name is John Parker and I'm a pedal steel player, so as you may guess I'm very much into traditional country music. When I think about CMT and those "suits" in New York and how they are sabotaging country music on TV and radio it reminds me of the old Pace Picante commercials--- "New York City?? Get a rope!!!" I really believe that the so called execs have no clue what the public likes and wants. Tradition is not dead!! I played at a dance last Friday night and almost every request was for traditional songs, songs like Crazy Arms, Walking after Midnight, He Stopped Loving Her Today, She Thinks I Still Care, The Window Up Above, She's Gone, Gone, Gone, etc., etc. And the people in attendance ranged from pre-teens to 80+. They even liked my steel playing. I look forward to some interesting posts and hope to make a few friends along the way.

Hello John A very warm welcome to you! We've got a few pickers and some grinners here so I am sure you'll feel right at home.... Steel guitar is my favorite instrument! It's the best thing that ever happened to country music.... I hear you and second that thought on tradition not being dead -- and thankfully there's still plenty of folks willing to make that kind of music out there -- we just have to make sure people have a chance to hear about them...
