Jeff Huskins, President & CEO, Vivaton Recording Artists Group is proud to announce a new addition to its artist roster. Mark Chesnutt, a member of the Country Music Class of the 90's, who made traditional country music what is it is today, returns to the country music scene as a Vivaton artist.
Chesnutt is recognized as one of country music's real treasures. He has four platinum albums, five gold albums, 14 No. 1 singles and 23 Top 10 singles to his name. He was Billboard's Ten Most-played Radio Artists of the 90's and was recognized by the CMA as a Horizon Award Winner in 1993.
Chesnutt has maintained a steady presence with his fans during the interim by embarking on a hefty tour schedule over the last several months. He toured as part of the Rockin' Roadhouse Tour along with Tracy Lawrence and Joe Diffie canvassing the nation last summer.
Chesnutt's alliance with Vivaton reunites him with Shelia Shipley Biddy, Executive Vice President National Promotion and Artist Development. Mark shares his confidence in his new label, "Not only am I sold on the label's objective and their way of doing business, I'm confident in Shelia Shipley Biddy's talents and her belief in me. For ten years, she worked every one of my singles. Together, we celebrated 14 No. 1 hits and took another 23 into the top 10. That in itself speaks volumes as to why Vivaton is a good place for me to be. It just feels right." Biddy adds "Working with Mark again is like having an old friend back in my life. A lot of radio programmers tell us that the music is trending back toward a traditional sound. Well, Mark Chesnutt never left it. He was a big contributor to the success of county music in the 90's and he has the talent to do it all over again."
Mark is currently in the studio with producer Jimmy Ritchey working on his Vivaton album. Jeff Huskins describes what listeners can expect from the new project, "Mark is going to cut the kind of songs that made him a success in the 90's. He is 'king of the Honky Tonk' and this new album is destined to be one of his best! Vivaton is a believer."
The Vivaton record is tentatively scheduled to be released September 21. Mark's debut single is scheduled for a mid-summer release. He will return to the road this summer in support of the new project with his tour themed "Save The Honky Tonk."
